30+ Years of Professional Construction
My name is Brandon Bolt, I was raised on a farm in Whatcom County, south of Lynden on the Nooksack River. I started working construction in the mid-80’s. I moved away and worked in California, Texas & Louisiana. I returned home in 1991 with a newfound appreciation for the PNW, knowing this was where I wanted to be.
I spent several years as a sailboat rigger and then owning a propeller shop before I returned to construction. In 2000 I partnered with Justin Paulsen and formed Terra Firma, NW. We took a job on San Juan Island and then three years later took another job on Orcas Island, where we stayed.
Since coming to Orcas in 2003, we built 56 homes from the ground up (40 for Opal) and remodeled/renovated a number of homes and took part in the process of moving several homes.
Justin and I amicably parted ways in 2019, which is when Bolt Construction NW was formed. I’ve had the opportunity to work with some amazing clients since, and with new beginnings brings the chance to reflect on what’s important and meaningful to me. I’ve found my passion in bringing people’s vision into reality and creating a space that’s been designed to look intentional.
My passion is also this community, I’ve been in the islands for over 20 years, my wife and I met here and have made this our home. It reminds me a lot of the small town I grew up in, a slower pace, where kids can be kids and everyone is looking out for one another.
